Frequently Asked Questions
1
What is coaching?
Coaching is a collaborative process that gives you space to step back, gain clarity, explore what matters to you and take purposeful action. Rather than telling you what to do, coaching helps you understand your own patterns, perspectives and choices, and explore ways of moving forward that feel meaningful and realistic for you.
2
Who is coaching for?
Coaching can be helpful when you feel stuck, are navigating a period of change, or want to make a meaningful shift in your personal or professional life. You might be dealing with sustained pressure, questioning what comes next, or simply feeling that the way you are currently living or working is no longer working for you.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. Sometimes the starting point is simply knowing that something needs to change.
3
Is coaching therapy or counselling?
No. Coaching and therapy are different forms of support. Coaching is generally focused on the present and future — helping you clarify what you want, understand patterns that may be getting in the way, and explore purposeful action.
Coaching is not a substitute for medical care, psychological therapy or counselling. If you are receiving professional care, it is important that I know so that we can consider whether coaching is appropriate alongside it.
4
What happens in a coaching session?
Each session is different because the work is shaped around you and what is most relevant at the time. We may explore what has been happening, look at patterns in your thoughts, emotions or behaviour, clarify what matters to you, and consider what you would like to do differently.
There may be reflection or practical experiments between sessions, but there is no fixed formula. The process develops from where you are and what you want to work towards.
5
How long is a coaching session?
Sessions are 60 minutes long.
6
Where do sessions take place?
Coaching is available online via Zoom or in person at my private practice in Stow-on-the-Wold, Cotswolds, GL54.
7
How much does coaching cost?
Currently, individual sessions start from £80 per hour. We will discuss the exact fee before we begin working together.
8
How do I pay?
Payment is made in advance of each session. Further payment details will be provided when your session is arranged.
9
How often will we meet?
I usually recommend starting with weekly sessions to build some momentum. Once we’ve got into a rhythm, we can move to fortnightly sessions or meet less frequently if that feels right for you.
There’s no set schedule, and we can adjust how often we meet depending on what you’re working on and what feels most helpful.
10
How many coaching sessions will I need?
There is no fixed number. Coaching is a collaborative process, and the length of the work will depend on your goals, circumstances and what you want to achieve. You are free to end coaching at any time. Unless you sign up for a package. In which case, the time is fixed.
11
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you share during coaching is treated as confidential, except in circumstances where disclosure is required by law, such as where there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others.
Your personal data is handled in accordance with applicable UK data protection requirements and is used for coaching and communication relevant to our work together.
That’s completely understandable. You don’t need to know exactly what you want to work on before getting in touch.
If you’re considering coaching and would like to explore whether it might be right for you, you can book a Discovery Call or leave a brief message and I’ll be in touch within 48 hours.
Yes. If you need to cancel or reschedule an individual session, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled or missed with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged at the full session rate.
12
What if I’m not sure whether coaching is right for me?
13
Can I cancel or reschedule an individual session?
14
Can I cancel coaching at any time?
Absolutely. You can choose to end coaching at any time. If you are working with me through a package, the terms of that package will apply, including any agreed number of sessions or fixed timeframe.
